Aransas County Highlights Success of Health and 4-H Youth Programs

May 28, 20261 min read

Aransas County’s family and community health initiatives are seeing significant growth, according to a presentation delivered Tuesday to the Commissioners Court.

Megan Glidden, the county’s family and community health agent, reported that all schools in the Rockport-Fulton ISD have been recognized as Healthy South Texas schools. The designation follows the implementation of programs such as "Walk Across Texas," "Cooking Well with Friends" for teachers, and a mindfulness curriculum for upper-grade students.

Glidden also highlighted the recent national accreditation of the Coastal Bend Child Development Center, noting that only 3% of centers in the U.S. achieve this status from the National Association for the Education of Young Children. In 4-H news, Glidden celebrated local youth successes at major livestock shows and announced the upcoming chartering of a new 4-H club at the high school to expand extracurricular competition opportunities.
