Hey there, neighbors and friends in Rockport, Fulton, and all of Aransas County. My heart’s been heavy this week after yet another drug raid hit our community. My baby girl's birthday is today and it really got me to thinking. I’m so grateful for the brave, dangerous work our law enforcement teams are doing every day. They have my loudest applause and fullest support. But as a mom raising kids right here in Rockport, it also leaves me worried about the children growing up where needles outnumber toys and fear quietly steals the peace from our neighborhoods and homes. This is more than just a crime issue for me. It reaches deeper into the everyday conditions that shape our health, hope, and sense of belonging. In the full piece I share why I believe we need to think bigger about systems-level change and real community healing while still standing strong with our first responders. If this has been weighing on your heart too, I hope you’ll subscribe to The Rockport Pirate and read the rest… I’d love to have you in this conversation with me.
