A proposed interlocal agreement regarding the Rockport Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) was postponed during Monday's County Commissioners session. The court opted to table the item until the City of Rockport responds to the county’s latest proposals. The delay followed public comments expressing concerns about the transparency of the agreement and the criteria for future board appointments. One resident suggested that individuals with a history of legal or official opposition to the project should be ineligible for county appointments to the TIRZ board. Commissioners indicated they would revisit the negotiations once the city provides feedback on the current draft.
