Collected Thoughts on Growing Old

July 19, 20262 min read

The older I get, the less I care what people think. I am just happy that I can still think.

At my age getting lucky means having a friend that can drive at night. At my age it is an accomplishment when you walk into a room and remember what you came in for. Luckily that usually means I walked into the bathroom.

The problem with growing old is…….oops sorry, lost my train of thought.

When you get older, you have a wealth of memory in your memory bank. The problem is your mind becomes a penny pincher and will not let you withdraw any of it. You know you are getting old when you are cooking and you have to pull the directions back out of the garbage can several times. I don’t use my phone when I make grocery lists, I write them on paper. I forget and leave them at home and then I wander aimlessly

up a down the aisles thinking I will remember them. But on the up side, I meet a lot of new people doing the same thing.

My train of thought usually gets wrecked because I usually leave the station without the conductor.

When old age gets me down, I always hope I am close to a step stool.

Old age doesn’t always mean you grow wiser, sometimes it just means you are getting older.

Aging seems to be the secret to long life. The older you get, the better the stories from your youth get.

The older you get, the more fun acting immature can be. When your mind says I can do that, but you make sure you are wearing your emergency call button. Getting old is when you reach down to pick up something and look around to make sure there isn’t anything else to pick up while you are down there anyway.

Some things heal with time; just don’t look in the mirror while you are on that train of thought.

The older you get, good stories that never happened come to light.

How do you know how to act your age, when you have never been this age before?

I am so old that my “use before..” time stamp is totally unreadable.

All seniors goal is to outlive your extended warranty.

Be thankful that you don’t have to grow old twice.

And finally I am on a quest to find a medication that says “Caution, may cause extreme youthfulness”

Thought for the day: A shark can swim faster than me, but I could probably outrun a shark so it all comes down to who would be the better cyclist in a triathlon.
